Nike develops a special shoe for caregivers, nurses and doctors

Nike has developed a special shoe for her “daily heroes” such as doctors and nurses. The shoe giant wants to make the physically and mentally demanding job of the caretakers easier. The shoe can be put on with one hand, it is protected against stains and thanks to the sturdy heel with supple sole it is perfect for long days.

Because doctors and nurses have a “physically and mentally demanding job”, shoe giant Nike has designed a unique shoe for these caregivers. Their research showed that nurses can often sit for an hour in their twelve-hour long shifts and walk 6 to 8 kilometers every day. The company worked with professionals from American hospitals to address these challenges. All this “with a view to simplicity”, according to the press release.

The shoe is suitable “for all hospital conditions”. For example, the garment has a rubber outsole with a flexible midsole and sturdy heel that feels like a “soft, cozy embrace”. The shoe also has stretchers instead of laces, making it easy to put on or take off in one move, ideal for emergencies. The repellent exterior that protects against stains is also finished with the international symbol of care provision.

The shoe giant brings out different designs, six of which were designed by patients from the Oregon Children’s Hospital. The proceeds will be donated in full to the hospital. According to Nike, the shoes will be available from 7 December. The cost price is not yet known.
