“Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth.” That is the title of a playful petition on Change.org that has already collected more than 164,000 signatures. The former Amazon boss will fly to space this afternoon with the New Shepard launch vehicle from his space company Blue Origin. It is the first time that it brings people to space.
Bezos is accompanied by his brother Mark, Wally Funk (82), and the Dutch Oliver Daemen (18). Three days after Bezos announced in early June that he was taking his brother to space, the first playful petitions against his return appeared online.
“Billionaires should not exist,” it read. Not just on Earth but not in space either. But if they wanted to go to space, they should stay there.
“Billionaires should not exist…on earth, or in space, but should they decide the latter, they should stay there.”
