Russian Covid-19 vaccine side effects listed

While Russia has just registered the world’s first anti-Covid-19 vaccine, it’s side effects are clearly written on the leaflet accompanying it.

Adverse effects of a Covid-19 vaccine can manifest as “chills, fever, headache, nausea, decreased appetite, and allergic reactions,” says the leaflet describing the use of the Gam-COVID-Vac vaccine, according to the Russian site ‘Sputnik’.

“Side effects: possible development of brief, short-lived reactions, both general (brief flu-like symptoms such as chills, fever, arthralgia, myalgia, asthenia, general indisposition, and headache) as well as minor (pain at the injection site, hyperemia, edema),” the document states.

Other symptoms could also appear, although less often, such as nausea, dyspepsia, decreased appetite, and sometimes enlarged lymph nodes, the leaflet further specifies. Some patients might develop allergic reactions.

The Russian Ministry of Health had previously registered the world’s first vaccine against Covid-19, which was jointly designed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RFPI) and the Gamaleïa Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, August 11, by Vladimir Putin during a meeting with members of the government.

Russia plans to manufacture nearly 200 million doses by the end of the year. At the same time, 20 countries have already expressed interest in Sputnik V, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, and India.
