Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is the first boxer to unify all super-middleweight titles. Alvarez defeated American Caleb Plant in Las Vegas after an 11th round referee intervention.
Thanks to his 57th win (his 39th before the end of camp) in 60 camps, Alvarez adds the IBF belt to his record. That previously included the WBA, WBO, and WBC titles.
Since 1988 and the creation of the four belts, Alvarez has been the sixth boxer to unify all titles. Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (light-heavyweight) and Americans Bernard Hopkins (middleweight), Jermain Taylor (middleweight), Terence Crawford (super lightweight), and Josh Taylor (super lightweight) preceded him.
