A fire broke out in an ammunition depot in the western part of the Czech Republic, triggering several detonations, a police spokesman said.
A fire followed by several explosions occurred at an ammunition depot in the town of Bilina, in the western Czech Republic, the local police spokesman told Sputnik.
“The fire started in a depot rented by the police, which contained ammunition whose expiration date had passed. Subsequently, several detonations occurred,” he said.
A dozen fire engines arrived on the scene, and nearby buildings were evacuated. According to the information available, the incident did not cause any injuries.
Entry into the city was prohibited for cars, the local police spokesperson said.
