In South Africa, bold burglars dug a tunnel to try to rob a bank in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
The gang of thieves wanted to access the coffers of an Al Baraka Bank branch.
Despite this bold plan and the patience to dig the tunnel, the thieves failed because the bank’s alarm went off.
“When the alarm went off the gang fled,” said Mohammed Kaka, the bank’s chief of operations at the local news site ‘News24’.
The police are still on the heels of this daring gang.
South Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world and gangs clash regularly for territorial control in their criminal activities.
Burglaries are often prepared and conducted with audacity.
Armed men do not hesitate to hijack armoured vehicles carrying large sums of money and to blow up cash machines.
