In Nigeria, a man was given an easy but terrible punishment. He was caught inappropriately dumping garbage beside the road by security services.
The police and state-run waste management agency in Lagos surprised the man on the picture below when caught dumping garbage on the road-side at Ejigbo LCDA.
As punishment for his improper waste disposal, he was forced to clean all the garbage there, package and load them inside his car and drove to his home where he will explain his harmful act to the members of his families and neighbors.
He was also forced to keep the waste on his premises for a certain period of time, then to seek the assistance of a waste treatment operator assigned to the garbage collection.
Inappropriate waste disposal has been a fight at the head between the city dwellers and state Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in Lagos state, Nigeria.
Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is the government agency charged with the sole responsibility of managing solid waste in Lagos State. The Authority provides solid waste collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal service to all residential, industrial and commercial facilities all over the state.
The governor of the state, recently stated that “We must acknowledge the environmental degradation that plagues the State and the urgent need for a world-class comprehensive waste management system that addresses this crucial quality of life issue,” Says by his Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode
