The first case of Coronavirus in the African continent is recorded in Egypt. The identity of the patient is still unknown for the time being.
The country’s Ministry of Health announced in a joint statement with the World Health Organization that the patient is a foreigner without specifying his nationality.
The statement said that the affected person, who had no symptoms, was kept in isolation in a hospital that had remained anonymous.
This is the first case of the coronavirus recorded on the African continent. Africa has strong trade ties with China. Health systems there are weak, however.
Egypt had suspended its national airline’s flights with China in early February. About 300 Egyptians had been evacuated in February from Wuhan, the epicenter of the Chinese city, and had been quarantined for 14 days.
