In Tanzania, a country in Africa, has a mysterious moving mountain located in Ngorongoro, which moves at the speed of 20 meters per year.
Vaguely used “mountain” can refer to any large pile, and typically, mountains are not supposed to move, but a towering mountain of sand does precisely that. This is a mysterious dark-brown hill of sand that has been traveling in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCCA) of Tanzania at a speed of 20 meters per year.
However, they are massive, and they are either amazing or mysterious. It is not just the gigantic dune that moves either. Still, according to former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, a handful of sand from the moving mountain “kept moving” even after he transferred it to his car.
Standing 10 meters (33 feet) high by 100 meters (330 feet) wide, the crescent-shaped sand mountain changes shape and direction every decade.
It even splits in half and travels in different directions. According to some reports, it is believed that the moving mountain is the product of a volcanic eruption.
Due to their mysterious movements, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority uses beacons to track and predict the mountain’s movements.
