Google has developed a new feature that tracks skin, hair, and nail conditions. The tech giant announced this yesterday at its annual development conference. For example, People can take detailed photos of themselves, after which Google uses artificial intelligence to search for suspicious bumps.
All you need for the ‘dermatology assist tool’ is a smartphone. You take three detailed photos from different angles of, for example, a suspicious spot. If you have uploaded it, Google will then ask a few more questions. Does it itch? How long have you had the spot? Based on that, the function will show the most likely options out of 288 different conditions.
The tool does this only if it is sure of its conclusion. Otherwise, Google will indicate that there is doubt.
No substitute
In addition, the tech giant warns that the feature is not intended to replace a doctor’s judgment. Rather, it would serve as a supplement to get information quickly and reliably.
The technology has already been approved in Europe. Users will be able to try out the dermatology assist tool later this year. According to Google, there are about 10 billion searches every year for skin, hair, and nail problems.
