Uganda to receive 300,000 doses of anti-Covid vaccines donated by China

Uganda expects to receive at least 12.3 million doses of the Covid vaccine by next year, according to the Ministry of Health. The country aims to immunize around 22 million people or nearly half of its population.

Uganda will receive some 300,000 additional doses of anti-Covid vaccine offered by China, Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo announced Friday evening.

“As a government, we applaud this development and our strong bilateral relationship with China,” Alupo said on Twitter.

The East African country had recently received 300,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine provided by the Chinese government.

According to the Ministry of Health, Uganda expects to receive at least 12.3 million doses of the Covid vaccine by next year. The country aims to immunize around 22 million people or nearly half of its population.

Since the launch of its vaccination campaign last March, approximately 1.35 million doses have been administered in Uganda.
