The WhatsApp messaging application is now prohibited to anyone under 16 in the European Union.
The ban was aimed at users under the age of 13, but the company is in the process of changing the rules before introducing new EU data privacy regulations in May.
In a few weeks, you will have to confirm your age before you can use the instant app.
Just like Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube, WhatsApp is extremely popular with younger users.
For WhatsApp, which belongs to the Facebook group, it is mainly to update its terms of use and its confidentiality policy in order to align with European standards of transparency regarding the privacy of users.
The minimum age remains at 13 years outside the countries of the European Union, said the group.
