A 21-year-old woman from Switzerland risks a fine after she hit an Afghan migrant in the face during a New Year’s party in Vienna. The man has tried her first. He left with a broken nose to the incident and was accused of assault. But the woman also risks a punishment: she is accused of blows and injuries.
At the end of December, the woman had gone down with her girlfriends to Austria to celebrate a new age. During the big party on the Rathausplatz in Vienna, however, she was tried at night. The tourist did not let that happen: she turned and gave the man a big bang in the face. He fled away.
Later he informed some security people at the event and was taken to the hospital. He turned out to have a broken nose. According to the police, this is a 20-year-old Afghan migrant. The man denies that he touched the woman, although several witnesses contradict that. The twenties is now accused of assault.
Fine
The woman, too, may not remain unpunished: for the time being, she is fined because of blows and injuries. The court still has to decide whether the woman is actually convicted. In anticipation of the final decision, she would like to remain anonymous. The incident caused a stir in Austria and Switzerland. Swiss politician and former minister Christoph Blocher has already said that he wants to pay the fine of the woman if necessary, reports St. Galler Tagblatt. “How does a woman still have to defend herself if this is not allowed?”
