A woman from the US state of Texas has shared images of her delivery on Instagram. In itself nothing special, were it not that her child was born in the passenger seat of her car, while her husband was feeding her to the hospital. On the back seat the other children of the couple watched with big eyes.
In the video you can see how Alexis Swinney (25) gets rid of the pain. Just before that, she and her husband Dominique and the children had left for the hospital because her contractions were getting faster and faster. Although it was only a 10-minute drive, it even turned out to be too far.
While her water broke and she sat upside down in her chair, Alexis gave her husband the – not so safe – job of filming everything while he was driving and he did, with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand on the smartphone. “Can you wait another 2 minutes”, you can hear the man say something in panic. “Wait a minute, wait a minute.”
That did not work out, because less than a minute in the film you can see how Alexis holds her fifth child in her arms. “It was surreal,” she told the news magazine Inside Edition afterwards. “I hardly got time to press. My body took over completely. It was as if it knew what had to happen and I just let myself go.”
“It was extraordinary to bring my own baby into the world”, the woman wrote on Instagram. “No doctors or nurses, no lights, no pressure, no one to disturb the special moment of the birth of a new life. There was pain, but the joy and peace that we experienced immediately after we were alone with our little girl were the most beautiful reward I could wish for. It was crazy. But it was great.”
The children in the back seat watched with open mouth all the time. “They did not quite realize what was happening,” said Alexis, who also reported that everything went well with the little Corbyn Hope.
The video has now been viewed more than 50,000 times on Instagram. The family also made its appearance in the talk show of Jimmy Kimmel this week and that promised the family a brand new SUV.
