More than 100 prisoners escaped during explosive outbreak in Brazil
More than 100 prisoners have escaped from a prison in the Brazilian state of Paraiba. Criminals blew the entrance to the institution and then they attacked guards with firearms.
An agent of the military police was seriously injured.
The attackers apparently tried to liberally release four detainees. They were behind the bars because of a series of robberies on cash transfers and ATMs, say sources within the police against news site G1. In the chaos, however, many other prisoners could also take their legs. To date, at least 33 fugitives have been arrested again.
In the prison of João Pessoa, 680 criminals were detained at the time of the outbreak. The institution is built for a maximum of 660 prisoners.
