Researchers have long tried to understand why it was intended but have not been able to give a precise answer. The image on it looks more like a complex circuit or circuit board than an ancient artifact.
It is difficult to study it because the original location of the artifact is unknown. According to the available information, it was bought either by a museum in Holland in 1828 or by a Swedish museum in 1830 (museums differ in different sources).
However, the artifact is now in the Leiden Museum of Antiquities.
The artifact itself is a small disc of alabaster with a diameter of 49 centimeters and a height of 13 centimeters. Its weight is as much as 75 kilograms.
The main question that torments everyone is its purpose. According to the versions, it was used for burial or ritual purposes. But why make such a complex object for burial? This remains a mystery.
The presence of a large number of various holes was explained by technical purposes, allegedly they were needed for the flow of oils and other liquids needed for embalming.
Despite the available versions, they are considered incomplete and do not fully explain the meaning of this artifact. Its true purpose, as well as the complexity of the images on it, remain a mystery.
