Antarctica’s ghost cities

Like everyone understands, the magical mystery of the Earth’s unknown depths has long piqued the interest of explorers and scientists of all eras and peoples. As a result, Antarctica, the Earth’s South Pole, is one of the world’s least recognized and researched locations. On this continent, study and discoveries only serve to raise more questions. But what might be unknown and undiscovered on this land, which is virtually totally covered in perpetual ice?

Here are some basic facts regarding Antarctica’s mainland. More than 99 percent of the surface of the Earth’s sixth continent is covered in ice. According to scientists, the ice cover is nearly 4.5 kilometers thick at its thickest point. The average distance is around 1.7 kilometers. The total volume of all ice is estimated to be between 23 and 25 million cubic kilometers.

The location is appropriately referred to as the Earth’s chilly pole. Low-temperature air signs are recorded on the surface of permafrost. This typical mode is minus 70 degrees Celsius during the winter months (June-August), and minus 40 degrees Celsius during the summer months (December-February).

Antarctica is devoid of terrestrial animals. Elephant seals, penguins, and a variety of birds are among the permanent resident’s animals.

Surprisingly, this continent has more secrets and mysteries than one of our solar system’s planets, Mars. And it isn’t much different, except for the fact that there is more oxygen here. Furthermore, the temperature on the surface is almost the same. The Vostok station recorded the lowest temperature on Earth in the history of meteorological measurements on July 21, 1983, when it dropped to 90 degrees below zero. Even the images of the surface of perpetual ice are a fraction of the size of those taken on Mars.

Only a sliver of knowledge on Antarctica has been uncovered since the Russian navigators under the leadership of Bellingshausen and Lazarev discovered it on January 27, 1820. Scientists and academics are still unsure what lies underneath the ice’s massive thickness. Even the continent’s surface isn’t completely known.

It’s worth mentioning that beneath the ice on the mainland, lakes with warm currents and a network of tunnels have been uncovered in the last decade. These tubes are highly branching and vast, according to information from several sources, and are situated at a depth of around 4 kilometers below. Experts claim that they may even be used to travel to other parts of the world.

To look for such routes, an expedition of researchers led by Alfred Ritscher was sent to Antarctica on June 16, 1938, with three ships and the aircraft carrier. They also uncovered a dead city “in a mountain valley with a pyramid” on October 14 of that year. Strange structures with old inscriptions, odd underwater passages, and tunnels with patterns on the walls, as well as sculptures resembling idols from the famed Easter Island, were discovered in this location by experts. On the camera, the expedition crew meticulously documented what they witnessed.

On Adolf Hitler’s instruction, five additional submarines were deployed to the Antarctic area on October 11, 1938, to continue this investigation in the depths of perpetual ice. At the beginning of November, one of them, hull number UA – 4, was able to travel via an underwater tunnel approximately 800 meters from where a warm current emerged.

The submarine then penetrated the mountain’s heart via a tunnel and arose to the surface in a warm-water lake. It was a massive cave with the same weird monuments and inscriptions that turned out to be linked to other similar caverns by a network of tunnels.

On December 20, members of the study team discovered mines that were not natural. The walls of these shafts were remarkably clean and level, with a severe downward slope. The discovery of stone sculptures in the shape of animals with wings and sharp teeth was a fascinating finding for experts. Over a three-year period, they discovered a few more dead towns with passageways going to caverns. One submarine inexplicably collapsed while coming home from the excursion.

It’s also worth noting that Miguel Serrano, a well-known Chilean ambassador who was personally engaged in one of the excursions to the sixth continent in 1947-1948, attempted to establish a living oasis with warm springs. The politician also offered that the legendary Hanna Reich, a Third Reich pilot, go to the South Pole by aircraft in order to locate the entrance to the Earth’s core.

Scientists continued to look for solutions to the issues raised about the found dead towns throughout this period. So, a few decades later, in December 1973, a crew of scuba divers headed by Jacques Yves Cousteau, the famed French ocean explorer, found an underwater cave. They found the same sculptures of animals and strange texts once they got inside. On the other hand, Captain Cousteau’s squad did not return in full force. Surprisingly, five individuals perished on the route.

From 1979 to 1983, the following mission was made up entirely of Russian scientists. They discovered an underwater passage leading to the six-thousand-year-old dead city with the help of three submarines and two ships. Runic inscriptions were uncovered once again, which were interpreted but quickly categorized. It’s worth mentioning that one of the boats was destroyed during the city expedition and had to be abandoned in the cave for unknown reasons…

It should be mentioned that some people attribute a mystical interpretation to this study. As a result, here’s one of the explanations: During the journey to Tibet, it is likely that information on a vast network of warm subsurface currents and tunnels across the Antarctic area was gathered. Perhaps it is a relic of a formerly thriving culture or civilization that is beyond the comprehension of the present human intellect. Alternatively, these cities might have been created by extraterrestrials who arrived on Earth.

There’s also the possibility that the ice-covered continent was originally Atlantis, the mysteriously vanished land.

A group of American and European study specialists, for example, recently revealed the discovery of three pyramids in Antarctica. They were able to catch these massive, incredible items. Experts believe that these pyramids were built artificially.

One of the discovered pyramids is situated immediately on the shore, while the other two are 16 kilometers apart. These artifacts have a remarkable similarity in appearance to Egyptian pyramids, the earliest of which dated from 2670 BC. There were no further specific messages or information about them.

The most significant source of knowledge on the pyramids at the time was a brief video broadcast that displayed many images with minimal written subtitles. It was also claimed that a new research group is being formed to investigate the newly found pyramids. Only then will it be feasible to make a definitive statement concerning their origin. The expedition’s dates, however, have yet to be disclosed.

As a result, it’s anyone’s guess as to where these unusual pyramids originated from and who may have built them. Maybe these are mountain boulders that have a flawless geometric form. Perhaps this is the result of human labor. We still don’t know what the sixth continent, Antarctica, has in store for us.
