In a first public statement since British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (55) was hospitalized after being infected with the coronavirus, Johnson thanked hospital staff. “I owe my life to them.”
Yesterday evening, a brief statement was circulated in the British press in which British Prime Minister Boris Johnson thanks the staff at St. Thomas hospital for the excellent care: “I cannot thank them enough. I owe my life to them,” wrote the Prime Minister.
Johnson was taken to St. Thomas Hospital in London last Sunday, ten days after testing positive for the new coronavirus.
Last Thursday, he was transferred to the intensive care unit, which he was allowed to leave after three nights. In a standard room, Johnson recovers further from his coronavirus infection.
It is not known when Johnson will be allowed to leave the hospital. Interior Minister Priti Patel said yesterday at the daily coronavirus news conference that the prime minister needs time to rest and heal.
According to the BBC, Johnson’s administration does not want to speculate about a possible return of Johnson, but it looks like the prime minister will “not immediately” sit back at his desk.
