A French matador was seriously injured last weekend in a bullfight in the Spanish capital Madrid. Shocking images show how Juan Leal (26) in the famous Las Ventas arena is taken from behind on the animal’s right horn.
After he was scooped up, the matador was thrown into the air to the horror of the audience. Two men ran into the ring to distract the bull and rescue Leal.

However, the man got back on his feet and continued the fight. He still managed to kill the bull and cut off his ear. He posed for those present, completely covered with blood and with torn pants.
French matador eventually left the arena on his own strength – stumbling, admittedly – and left the arena. He went to the nurses’ station but was taken straight to the hospital. It really turned out how bad he was. It turns out he had a 20-inch wound in his rectum.
The Horn had come out along his buttock again. It is also possible that his sacrum-above the tailbone-is broken. The doctors operated on him immediately and expect him to make a full recovery.
“I do not understand how he could have fought further and killed the bull,” replied his surgeon Máximo García Leirado. “A normal person would not have been able to get up again or get out again. Lucky for him, the bull’s horn cut off on his sacrum. Otherwise, it could have even pierced his stomach.”
