A new victim of the Anglophone crisis was registered last Friday. A Catholic priest, Father Alexander Sob Nougi was shot dead in Muyuka, in the South West region.
According to the report on cameroon daily newspaper, the circumstances surrounding this shocking and tragic death remain unclear, but several sources claim that he was the victim of a stray bullet resulting from the clash between the army and the separatists.
Neither Cameroonian authorities nor the Catholic hierarchy have commented on the circumstances of this incident.
The Reverend Alexander Sob who, until his death, was the parish priest of Bomaka, a district of Buea, the capital of the Southwest is the second man of God shot in a week.
On July 14, a pastor from Accra, on an evangelical mission, was shot dead. Pastor Isaac Attoh of the Destiny Impact Ministry was killed in Batibo, a town in the Northwest region.
For several weeks, the security situation in the Southwest has deteriorated considerably. The fighting between the army and the separatists is almost daily.
