The Ferrari F8 Tributo, the strongest eight-cylinder ever

Ferrari has unveiled a new model with the name F8 Tributo. The car is equipped with the strongest eight-cylinder ever in standard production model and is the successor of the Ferrari 488 GTB.

The design of the F8 Tributo differs considerably from that of the 488 GTB. The front including the headlights and bonnet is completely new, just like the entire rear. The most striking element here is the new rear window with louvers (a kind of slats on the rear window to keep out sunlight and heat, especially popular in the 80s, ed.), A nod to the Ferrari F40. Furthermore, the door thresholds have been redesigned and Ferrari has refined and modified numerous details.

The engine in the Tributo is a 3.9 liter V8 with turbo’s and is 720 hp strong and has a torque of 770 Nm. Not exactly but coincidentally exactly the same figures as the McLaren 720S. The Pista variant of the F488, which was released last year, also had that power, the basic model still did with 670 hp. The F8 Tributo two-seater sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, making it as fast as the same McLaren. But with speeds of 340 km/h, the top speed is one kilometer per hour slower than the 720S.

The weight has been reduced by 40 kilos compared to the standard F488 GTB. The F8 Tributo weighs 1,330 kilos on the scale. The McLaren? 1.283 kilos. Also, the aerodynamics is improved, as well as the cooling of the brake discs and in the interior is assembled a smaller steering wheel. Also, aerodynamic clevernesses of the Pista are applied to the F8 Tributo. This results in better performance on the circuit and better cooling for the engine.

The figure in the F8 is, of course, the number of cylinders and Tributo is no more or no less than a tribute to the already impressive pedigree of the models with an eight-cylinder. The car can be seen at the Geneva Motor Show. The price is not known yet.
