Gilbert Diendere’s lawyers ask for acquittal
The lawyers of General Gilbert Diendere, alleged mastermind of the failed coup d’état of September 2015 demand the acquittal of their client for lack of evidence.
On the last day of his hearing in the military court his counsel believe that the prosecution failed to prove General Diendere’s guilt.
Counsel for the defendant’s civil suit spoke of an inconsistent motion.
Long before, Master Matthieu Some, one of his lawyers charged the prosecutor in these words: “your role is to prove. If it is not done, it must be acquitted, which does not mean that September 16 did not exist”.
However, before leaving the audience bar, the general himself reiterated his regrets, offered his condolences and asked the families of the victims for forgiveness.
For Master Prosper Farama, family lawyer, his defence lacks logic.
