Lady gets heartwarming message from ex who is getting married

An American lady posted a heartwarming message on Twitter that she received from one of her first sweethearts. He had contacted her out of the blue again because he wanted to get married. And he didn’t want to do that without first thanking her for what she had meant for him. The tweet has been labeled almost 400,000 times in two days and received hundreds of responses.

“Hey, is this still Alexsa’s number?”, suddenly appeared on Alexsa Sanchez Aguilar’s smartphone on Saturday. When she answered in the affirmative, and he told her who he was, she asked how he was still doing. But she wasn’t prepared for the answer she got.

Sick

“I’m getting married tomorrow,” the man wrote. “I wanted to send you this message. (My fiance knows I’m sending this to you. Thank you for being my first love. Thank you for always encouraging me, thank you for keeping me out of trouble, thank you for taking care of me when I was sick and depressed, thank you for loving me.”

“If it hasn’t happened yet, I hope one day you find love,” the message continues. “When I think of how much you loved me when we were young, I can hardly imagine how strong your love is now. You have an incredible heart. I know we were just kids when we started dating, but you taught me what love is.”

He also talks about a possible future husband of Alexsa. “I hope he treats you with care, I hope he realizes who he has before him, I hope he shows you love and loyalty every day. You deserve that and a lot more. What I’m saying is, you’re the reason I know how to love someone. You taught me What Love Is, You taught me how to deal with my anger and my depression and how to fully enjoy life. I’m grateful. And I wish you all the love and happiness.”

Alexsa posted the message on Twitter and said she was “speechless” and “in tears.” “We were extremely young. We lost our best friend to suicide and that’s why we have so much respect for each other,” she explained later in one of the responses.

Viral

The message immediately went viral and hundreds of Twitter users explained to them how it had affected them. “That’s so sweet,” it sounded like, among other things. “I’m glad that you guys can hang out that way and that he’s so grown up.” Someone else adds, “Everyone comes into your life for a reason. And every relationship – good or bad – teaches you something and shapes you to be the perfect partner in the future. I think this is very sweet and I’m sure this is well deserved.”

Others also show some frustration: “I would die if I kneaded a man into the perfect husband for another woman.” But Alexsa refutes: “it’s not about ‘that I shaped him for someone else’. I just helped him through a difficult time in his life. Obviously, I had to be a part of his life, but that doesn’t mean I had to be his wife, too, or that he’s gonna cheat on his wife. Sometimes love passes. That’s life.”

She also reveals that she was still invited to the wedding.
