Mamadou Gassama welcomed as a hero in Mali [photos]

In a convertible escorted by men in uniform, Mamadou Gassama was greeted by a huge crowd in Bamako on Saturday.

The Malian national, who had been filmed climbing the floors of a building one by one to save a child in danger, returned to the country after being the global star via the web. He was welcomed as a true hero.

As a reminder, Mamadou Gassama was received at the Elysee Palace by French President Emmanuel Macron, who promised to naturalize him, but also to facilitate his integration with French firefighters.
