New HBO series explores ‘Game of Thrones’ universe

A few hours after it became known that HBO had scrapped a pre-game of ‘Game of Thrones’, including Naomi Watts, the pay-TV channel announced that another series that took place in the same universe did get the green light. The series was entitled ‘House of the Dragon’.

‘House of the Dragon’ will be about House Targaryen, one of the families from ‘Game of Thrones’. However, the series will be set 300 years earlier. George RR Martin, the author of the books about the ‘Game of Thrones’ series, is working on the new series, together with screenwriter Ryan Condal. ‘House of the Dragon’ will have ten episodes.

“The universe of ‘Game of Thrones’ is so rich in stories,” said Casey Bloys, chairman of the HBO programming. “We look forward to investigating the origins of House Targaryen and the first days of Westeros with Miguel (Sapochnik, the director who also worked on ‘Game of Thrones’, ed.), Ryan and George.”

There is no release date yet. The fans will be able to watch it on HBO Max. That platform will be available in the United States from May 2020 at $ 14.99 a month.
