Nigeria: 2 officers killed, another kidnapped in attack on military academy
A military source said two officers were killed and a third kidnapped in an attack perpetrated by an armed group on Tuesday morning against a military academy in northwest Nigeria.
Academy spokesperson Commander Bashir Muhd Jajiran said the Nigerian Defense Academy in Afaka (NDA) was stormed early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access to the residential area.
“During this unfortunate incident, we lost two staff members, and one was kidnapped,” said the same official.
“The NDA community and cadets are safe at the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown shooter will soon be apprehended and that the kidnapped personnel will be rescued,” he added.
NDA, a leading military university that trains officers for the armed forces of Nigeria and some other African countries, is located on the Kaduna-Lagos Highway and approximately 10 kilometers from downtown Kaduna.
