Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare has been banned from the Tokyo Olympics. On July 19, she tested positive for a growth hormone during an out-of-competition doping test.
The 32-year-old Okagbare is the first doping sinner at these Games. She won her series of the 100 meters (11.05) on Friday.
Okagbare won bronze as a long jumper at the 2008 Games. Nine years later, it became a silver medal when, after retesting, it turned out that the Russian Tatyana Lebedeva had used banned substances.
Okagbare would also participate in the 200-meter and 4×100-meter relay during the Tokyo Games.
