Red card for Cameroon: Morocco and South Africa vying for CAN 2019?
Following the withdrawal of the CAN 2019 organization in Cameroon on November 30 by CAF, a source within the Royal Moroccan Football Federation told information website H24 that the Kingdom of Morocco and South Africa will present their candidacy to host the African Cup.
After the decision of the African Football Confederation (CAF) on Friday November 30 to withdraw the organization of the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2019) in Cameroon, two countries are already in the starting blocks to apply for welcome this event. This is what the Moroccan news website H24 said, citing a source within the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
According to this source, Morocco will present its candidacy for the organization of the next African Cup of Nations. Reacting to reports from the South African press about a possible bid for the organization of the CAN 2019, the same source maintained that “Yes, South Africa will probably be in contention”.
According to the CAF, the new application filing session for the organization of the African Football Cup will begin this Saturday, December 1st. Countries wishing to apply will have one month to submit their applications. The CAF will make its final decision in January 2019.
The African Football Confederation (CAF) finally withdrew the organization of the CAN 2019 in Cameroon because of the delays in the execution of the construction sites of the infrastructure by the four inspection missions.
