A study of about 10,000 people found that kindness is an attitude that men like about women. Just as a woman is looking for a kind partner, men are also looking for a woman who has the same dispositions.
The study established a link between kindness and “willingness to cooperate, interest in long-term relationships, ability to form social alliances”. It is not difficult to understand why kindness is attractive.
“No article gives advice on how to be “nice”, even though we would be so much better just being nice rather than spending hours in front of the mirror,” said the author of Deeper Dating. The kindness will probably be obvious on a first date simply by showing consideration, like arriving on time and being polite with your restaurant waiter.
Outside of kindness, a study by three universities in the United States and Canada found that men are also looking for women who have a good sense of appreciation. Women, for example, who appreciate a good joke or more precisely the jokes of men do not leave them indifferent.
“Men have emphasized the importance of the receptivity of their partners to their own humor” reads in the abstract. Adding that: “Men like that when women laugh at their jokes, but they do not care if this woman is funny herself.”
A different study by a neuroscientist and professor of psychology at the University of Maryland found that women are also more likely to see themselves as the partner who appreciates humor, but not necessarily the one who produces it.
