Tension rises between Uganda and Rwanda
Uganda has protested strongly to Rwandan authorities after two suspected traffickers were shot dead by Rwandan soldiers near their border. For the Ugandan authorities, his two citizens killed were “unarmed”, but on the other side of the border, they are suspected of smuggling.
Relations between the two countries have deteriorated in recent months. Rwanda recently accused Uganda of destabilizing the country by creating a rebel force based in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This strong complaint is a sign that relations between these neighbors are deteriorating rapidly.
The torch burns between Uganda and Rwanda
This incident illustrates once again the tension between the two countries. For the observers, this is the last act of a long personal quarrel between President Paul Kagame and Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni.
The quarrel between the two neighboring countries led to the third week of border restrictions. The movement of people and goods is reduced until further notice.
These former allies have fought dramatically in the past, with the two armies fighting each other for almost two decades.
