The Egyptian army killed 52 jihadists at Sinai
Security forces have destroyed 15 vehicles loaded with weapons and ammunition in the west of the country and 17 others in the southern military region, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense.
The statement said 13 jihadists deemed “extremely dangerous” were killed in an operation in the city of Al-Arish, the capital of Sinai province.
The 39 other Islamist militants have been killed in various operations across northern and central Sinai.
It is impossible to verify this information because the media do not have access to the combat zones.
The anti-jihadist operation was ordered last November by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi after the attack on a mosque that had left hundreds dead.
These deaths bring to 313 the number of suspected militants killed during the various military operations.
The army has lost at least 35 men since February.
