The foreign ministers of the Sahel countries will arrive in Moscow for consultations

The Foreign Ministers of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), will arrive in Moscow on April 3 to participate in the first AES-Russia consultation session. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mali.

Consultations will take place on April 3-4. Visit. The ministers are visiting Moscow at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“This meeting reflects the shared commitment of the heads of state of the AES Confederation and the Russian Federation to bring their partnership and political dialogue to a confederate level, placing them at the center of their diplomatic and defense agenda aimed at meeting the deep aspirations of the AES peoples,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mali stressed that the meeting is taking place as part of efforts to strengthen partnership relations between AES and Russia by the Roadmap for the development of the Alliance.

The African Initiative reported, citing sources, that a comprehensive expansion of Russia’s cooperation with AES would be discussed during the visit.
