Looking for a new laptop? These devices with a good price-quality ratio and high definition screen are currently most frequently viewed on tech sites.
Asus ZenBook UX433FA-A5045T-BE (€899)
The Zenbook 14 is a sturdy laptop with a screen of 14-inch diameter (35.56 centimeters), a metal housing and very narrow screen edges. The hardware performance is good, in the battery test at web browser is achieved eight hours. Minus: the connections are not very practical, thanks to the micro sd memory card reader and the USB 2.0 connection that are outdated by this time. Also, the high definition screen is only moderately calibrated, but given the price – this is an entry model – that is not surprising.
HP Pavilion x360 14 (€749)
Another 14-inches (35.56 centimeters) is that of the American PC king HP. The laptop has a high definition screen, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 gigabytes of memory and a proprietary GeForce MX130 video chip. Other 750-euro laptops usually keep it with Intel’s built-in graphics processors. The keyboard has a lot of moves and the battery life is between seven and eight hours.
The HP Pavilion is a convertible and therefore has a screen that you can flip over. Despite the partial metal housing, it does not feel that strong. There are also other ‘flaws’: the thin protective rubbers around the keyboard and a moderately calibrated screen. We also miss a fingerprint scanner. In this price category, that would already be allowed to belong to the package as standard.
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260 (€699)
The ThinkPad Yoga 260 is already two years old but remains by far the most popular device from the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo. That is mainly due to the unbeatable price of 700 euros and the fact that you get a substantial package of hardware for that: a Full HD IPS screen, a working memory of 8 gigabytes and 256 gigabytes of storage on a solid state drive.
What is missing: standalone video performance (the graphical performance comes from Intel HD Graphics, the graphics processor built into the central CPU). That does not seem like a disaster, because a PC with a screen of 12 inches (30.48 centimeters) is probably not the first choice for gamers or consumers who want to edit photo/video.
MSI GF63 (€949.59)
Well, a good device for gamers: this last summer the Taiwanese MSI launched Klepper. For a price of around 1,000 euros you get a device with a high definition screen and powerful graphics performance, thanks to the GeForce GTX 1050 video chip. The 16-gigabyte working memory guarantees that the device will continue to run smoothly when there is a lot happening simultaneously on the screen. Add to that a powerful Intel Core i7 processor, and – In addition to the solid state disk of 256 gigabyte – a terabyte of extra storage via the hard disk that is in it, and that makes a good buy.
Apple MacBook Air 2017 (€800.83)
We can not say much about the popularity of Apple MacBooks, but the 2017 MacBook Air is an extra popular creature. The reason is, of course, the slightly reduced price: it is the cheapest MacBook model of the moment for those who want to switch to or stay in the Apple ecosystem. Actually, the WXGA + image resolution (1440×900 pixels) is not so phenomenal in comparison with other laptops in this price category, but it is usually the Apple users to do the Mac OS operating system and the seamless communication with their iPhones and iPads.
