Trump suggests injecting disinfectant as coronavirus treatment: “Don’t do it”

President also recommends sunbathing to fight coronavirus

US President Donald Trump, based on a study, has advised his countrymen to take a sunbath in the fight against the new coronavirus. According to the head of state, the research indicates that the virus disappears faster in sunlight and higher temperatures. Trump also suggested injecting disinfectants, which put him on banned lightning from doctors. Meanwhile, the producer of the drug Dettol has warned not to inject or drink the drug under any circumstances.

The new coronavirus survives less long on surfaces such as door handles when exposed to sunlight, heat, and humidity. Researchers from the United States government concluded that. As head of the department of science and technology at the Department of Homeland Security, Bill Bryan said that according to the study, the virus reaches half of its life in two minutes in summer conditions by 18 hours when there is no sunlight.

“Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect sunlight appears to have on killing the virus, both on surfaces and in the air,” said William Bryan at a White House news conference. “We have seen a similar effect in both temperature and humidity, with increasing temperature and humidity or both generally less beneficial to the virus.”

Enjoy the sun

After Donald Bryan’s presentation, President Donald Trump suggested the possibility of exposing corona patients to UV light. “I don’t think that’s checked,” he said during his daily corona briefing. “I hope people can enjoy the sun, and if it makes an impact, it’s great.”

“Suppose we hit the body with great light, now let it be ultraviolet or just very powerful, and I think you said it had not been tried, and you will test it,” Trump told Bryan.

“Suppose you can bring light into the body,” said the president, who did not explain how this should be done. Bryan and Trump did not disclose how the study was conducted and provided no underlying data.

Disinfectant

Trump also thought out loud about another finding Bryan presented. The research shows that the virus is killed within minutes by using a disinfectant such as bleach, and 2-propanol (secondary alcohol) is even faster. According to news channel CNN, the president asked advisers whether injecting disinfectants into the lungs can cure corona patients.

“The disinfectant turns it off in a minute,” said Trump. “Is there a way we can do something like that by injecting it? Almost like cleaning. It gets into the lungs and does great things there, so it’s interesting to watch that. You do need doctors, but it seems interesting to me.”

“Not a doctor”

“I’m here to spout ideas,” said Trump, adding, “again I say, maybe you can, maybe you can’t. I am not a doctor.”

The two top experts on the US approach to the corona crisis, Deborah Birx and Anthony Fauci, were unavailable to comment on the study at the news conference.

Experts warned after Trump’s comments that they absolutely do not put into practice. “Inhaling bleach would be the worst thing for the lungs,” said John Balmes, a San Francisco pulmonologist. “Not even a low quantity is safe. It is a totally ridiculous concept.”

Dettol maker: “Don’t drink or inject the drug”

The British multinational Reckitt Benckiser, the maker of, among other things, the disinfectant cleaning products Dettol and Lysol, warns people not to drink, inject them in any way whatsoever.

Reckitt Benckiser immediately responded to messages and questions via social media. “As with all our other products, our disinfectants and hygiene products must be used in the way they are intended.”

Don’t drink bleach

On Twitter #disinfectant, #Lysol (a well-known detergent in the US) and #Dontdrinkbleach are at the top of the list of American trending topics. Tweets with #quack (quack) or #DoctorTrump also appear.

Trump’s statements speak volumes, something that many twitterers have also noticed. It produces a lot of striking tweets:
