Two West African capitals among the world’s greatest night life
Lagos and Accra have been recognized among the top 13 nightlife destinations in the world.
Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling commercial hub, ranked 6th, surpassing well-known cities like Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Manchester in the UK, while Accra, Ghana’s coastal capital, secured 10th place on the list.
Time Out, a global magazine, published the ranking in 333 cities across 59 countries.
Afrobeats, the sound that has set dance floors worldwide, originated in Nigeria. So it’s no surprise that the country’s largest city, Lagos, ranks highly for its nightlife.
Lagos scored an impressive 80% for its vibrant nightlife, and it’s not too hard on locals’ wallets either, with a 48% score for affordability.
The magazine also noted that Lagos nightlife venues such as Freedom Park and The House on Victoria Island have become synonymous with exciting events catering to various tastes, from Sunday salsa and networking events to Afro-house club nights like Odyssey House.
