“White House wants research on Facebook and Google”
The White House is working on a decision to investigate possible violation of the competition rules by large social media companies such as Google and Facebook. Bloomberg reports that on the basis of a draft for the decision of President Donald Trump.
The document states that American cartel authorities should thoroughly investigate whether companies are complying with the law. But the process seems to be still at an early stage. According to an anonymous employee of the White House, the document must first pass all other government institutions. Officially, the government releases virtually nothing.
It has been known for some time that Trump has trouble with certain images on social media. In August he still complained on Twitter that social media would discriminate against Republicans and conservatives in the United States, whose opinion could not be heard properly. Google has not yet responded and Facebook refused to comment.
