14-year-old girl kills well-known South African dancer and LGBTQ + activist
Kirvan Fortuin, a South African dancer and LGBTQ + activist who regularly lived and worked in the Netherlands, was stabbed in a suburb of Cape Town, according to local media reports.
According to the police, he got into a fight with an underage girl in Macassar the night of Friday and Saturday. The girl would have stabbed him in the process, on his way to the hospital, he died.
The 14-year-old girl has been arrested as a murder suspect and is being brought before a children’s judge.
The 28-year-old Kirvan Fortuin was well known in both South Africa and the Netherlands. The minister of Culture and Sport of the Western Cape province, Anroux Marais, said in a response that “Fortuin was an example of how hard work and talent can open the way to success. He was a rising star in South Africa and had a promising future ahead of him.”
Fortuin worked a lot for a number of Dutch festivals, dance groups, and foundations.
