Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, believed to be dead, suddenly comes up with a book and a new video message. It was a big surprise, the publication that Al-Qaida distributed Friday evening.
No, not a victory bulletin for the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, but a bulky book. Written by Ayman Al-Zawahiri (70), the man who succeeded Osama Bin Laden 11 years ago. Everyone began to suspect that he was already dead. But his book and a new video message that has also appeared in the meantime, teach that he was still among the living in April of this year.
They always keep the tension in it, the media outlets of a terror group like Al-Qaeda. Important publications are announced several hours — or even days — in advance so that supporters and specialists can already speculate about what might be coming up. But when Al-Qaida’s As-Sahab (literally: the clouds) news agency sent out the simple words “Coming soon” Friday afternoon, everyone was convinced it would be a 9/11 message.
A video of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri surfaced on social media. Rumors have it that the leader of the terrorist movement had died in November, the video seems to contradict that, although it is not known how old the images are.
In the hour-long recording, Al-Zawahiri discusses, among other things, the withdrawal of the Americans from Afghanistan and agreements that Arab leaders concluded with Israel in 2020. However, he is not talking about the most recent developments, such as the Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan.
It seems no coincidence that the images appeared online on Friday marks 20 years since al-Qaeda terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington with hijacked planes.
Al-Zawahiri has been the leader of al-Qaeda since 2011. Then Osama Bin Laden was killed by US commando forces.
