Bitcoin just past $18000, its highest level since early 2018

The cryptocurrency bitcoin briefly passed the 18,000 dollar mark on Wednesday. Only on Tuesday, the currency had passed $17,000. The record level of about $20,000 at the end of 2017 is getting closer and closer.

On Wednesday, the bitcoin rose on the Luxembourg trading platform Bitstamp to USD 18,489, the highest level since the beginning of 2018. Afterward, the exchange rate dropped sharply to approximately USD 17,850

In March, the price hit a low point of $3,850 this year, but the value has only continued to rise since then.

Bitcoin received a boost, particularly after the Paypal payment platform opened its doors to the crypto coin in October.
