Heroic boy touches Hollywood stars: “I know a superhero when I see one”

The story of little Bridger (6), who sacrificed himself to save his sister from an attacking dog, hits a chord in Hollywood, particularly with Marvel actors such as Chris Evans (39) and Mark Ruffalo (52).

It was Bridger’s aunt, Nicole Walker, who came out with his story. “My nephew is a hero, who saved his little sister from an attacking dog,” she writes on Instagram.

The German Shepherd wanted to attack his four-year-old sister, but Bridger – himself only six years old – intervened without hesitation. With severe consequences: he was bitten in the face several times and had to have about 90 stitches in the hospital.

Although he does not regret it himself: “He said: ‘If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me’,” writes his aunt.

The family does not need donations; it sounds. Although interested parties are allowed to send photos of rocks: “Bridger is a big fan of science, especially geology. And, Nicole adds, “I know it’s a long shot, but I’m reaching out to the Avengers and other heroes so that they can learn about this latest addition to their ranks”.

Need a teammate?

With success, because Hollywood stars meanwhile responded en masse to Nicole’s message. For example, actress Anne Hathaway – who portrayed the character Catwoman in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, wrote: “I am not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in life as you are in yours, Bridger. I wish you an easeful recovery and many cool looking rocks.” Then she forwarded the message to Mark “The Hulk” Ruffalo: “Do you need a teammate?”

She only responded positively to Anne’s suggestion. “Dearest Bridger. I just read what happened to you. People who care about the well-being of others more than their own are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know. I respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage doesn’t mean dominating other people or fighting people or acting like a tough guy. It means knowing what is right and doing it, even if it hurts you. You are more man than many people I have seen or known.”

A real Captain America shield

Actor Chris Evans – Captain America – was not unrepentant either. In a video that Nicole shared on her social media, he promised to send little Bridger a very special gift. “I’m sure you’ve heard this many times for a lot of this over the last couple of days. But let me be the next one to tell you, pal. You’re human, but you did, was so brave. So selfless your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you. I’m going to send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal you deserve it. Keep being the man you are. We need people like you to hang in there. I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there’s much that can slow you down.”
