Low record of food rations in North Korea

North Korea has cut the food rations for citizens. They only receive 300 grams of food per day, confirms the United Nations and World Food Program. It would be the smallest rations ever at this time of the year.

The UN organization says North Korea has had the worst harvest in ten years. According to a spokesperson, this is due to droughts, heat waves, and floods. There would be a food shortage of 1.36 million tonnes and that has consequences for millions of people.

The World Food Program calls it plausible that North Korean rulers still need to lower their rations. The country itself had already raised the alarm about the food situation. The isolated regime in Pyongyang suffers from severe international sanctions.
