Man makes a proposal on a 1,000-meter high rock

A British man has asked his girlfriend to marry him in a special place. The couple was on holiday in Norway and after a long walk stood on top of the Kjeragbolten – a rock stuck between two steep rocks – when Kristian Richards (33) pulled out his ring. “She said yes,” he responded afterward. “I think she just wanted to get rid of it.”

The Kjerag is a mountain of 1,110 meters high in the west of Norway and a popular tourist destination. At a height of 1,000 meters, you have a breathtaking view of the Lysefjord below from the Kjeragbolten. It was that place that Kristian had in mind to marry his girlfriend Bex Morley (30).

Rock

Very carefully, he let himself down on the boulder on his knee. “Most people are afraid that their girlfriend might say no, but I was more concerned about other things,” the factory worker from Kent confessed to the British newspaper The Sun. “That I would drop the ring, for example. Because if I let him slip out of my hands, we would have lost it.”

Bex – a personal trainer – said she had no idea what was going to happen. She thought they were just going for a walk.

“It was creepy, but she was more anxious than me,” said Kristian. “She was afraid that I would slide off the boulder. She said yes. But I think she just wanted to get rid of it,” he laughs.

Bex posted a picture of the proposal on Instagram and there the photo received a lot of admiring reactions. However, not everyone would like to step on the boulder, as it appears. “Oh no, forget that I would do that someday,” it sounds, among other things. And: “I would have thanked you.”

Legend

The location was at least fairytale-like. According to a local legend, the Kjeragbolten is a troll that became petrified when daylight fell on him. It is a popular place for base jumpers and photos from the boulder are very popular on social media.
