Nigerian child found dead with traces of severe injuries in German shelters

In Cologne, a two-year Nigerian girl was found dead in a shelter for refugees. According to the police, there are “indications that the child did not die naturally”.

A spokesperson for the police said that the body showed signs of serious injuries. For the time being no arrests have been made yet. The parents of the girl, who come from Nigeria, are under police supervision in a hospital and are currently being interrogated.

The mother of the toddler would have provided information to the German authorities about the death of her daughter. After she had been found in a confused state at the home of her partner in Cologne.

An autopsy should provide more clarity about the cause of death.
