Number of coronavirus infections worldwide above 7 million

The number of infections with the new coronavirus has risen to over 7 million worldwide. According to Johns Hopkins University, which is based on figures from official bodies, at least 7,016,794 people have tested positive for the coronavirus so far.

In a month, the number of infections worldwide has approximately doubled. Only 6 million infections were reported a week ago.

Due to the rapid spread of the virus in countries such as India and Brazil, the number of cases detected increased by more than 100,000 a day.

The United States currently has the highest number of infections (1,942,363), followed by Brazil (691,758), Russia (467,073), the United Kingdom (287,621), and India (258,090).

Yesterday, the number of deaths exceeded 400,000 worldwide, today the counter is at 402,874 deaths.

Of those, 110,514 died in the United States. The United Kingdom ranks second with 40,625 deaths, followed by Brazil (36,455), Italy (33,899), and France (29,158).
