Rooney apologizes for after-party images with women: ‘I made a mistake’
Wayne Rooney, 35, has apologized to his family and club Derby County for the images that surfaced last weekend. The photos showed how the former top striker was clearly having a good time with two women. “Now I want to put it behind me.”
“I went to a private party with two of my friends and from me, I’d like to apologize to my family and the club.”
Last weekend it was suddenly full of photos of a clearly tipsy Wayne Rooney on social media. The former striker was not alone: Rooney was with two blond ladies at a club in Manchester.
The footage then showed that the Englishman was in a hotel room with the ladies, although Rooney himself seemed to realize little of it. He was sleeping, while the woman quickly took a selfie with ‘Wazza’.
Rooney claimed that the photos were a form of blackmail and even filed a complaint through his lawyers, but the police quickly decided to stop the investigation.
According to sources from The Daily Mail, Rooney was surprised by this, but last night the Derby County manager did apologize after a friendly game against Real Betis. “I have made a mistake. I went to a private party with two friends,” Sky Sports said. “I would like to apologize to my family and the club for the pictures going around. Now I want to put it behind me.”
Rooney has been married to high school sweetheart Coleen since 2008, with whom he has four children. It is far from the first time that Rooney has been in the news with other women. The couple will probably survive this storm.
