This is how you get rid of that harmful pollen on your car

The disadvantage of the summer weather is that there is a lot of pollen in the air, and all that pollen likes to stick. On cars, it leaves a layer that is not easy to remove. There are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning.

Pollen is not nearly as aggressive as bird droppings. But if you wait too long to wash, you can still damage the paint. When it rains for a while, cars are fairly thoroughly cleaned of pollen, but you better not wait for that. It is best to wash your car at least every fourteen days.

Summer window cleaner

The pollen itself won’t harm the paintwork, but if it mixes with sand or dust, it can cause minor scratches when you scrub the car with a sponge, as it will chafe. The pollen must therefore be removed with a high-pressure cleaner. The nozzle must be at least 30 centimetres away from the car to prevent possible damage.

When the car is waxed after washing, pollen is also less able to adhere to the paint. It is also important to use a summer window cleaner instead of antifreeze. Otherwise, a mixture will form with the pollen that is even more difficult to remove from the windshield.

In addition to pollen, other resinous substances such as honeydew can adhere more stubbornly to the paint. This can make the stains particularly difficult to remove, especially at higher temperatures.

Bird droppings

Bird droppings are also very harmful to your car paint. By making the droppings soft, you can easily wipe them off the paint, even after many hours of sunlight. You do this by pouring water on the bird droppings and then placing a few folded newspaper pages over it.

You then also generously pour over that newspaper with water, after which the whole has to soak in for about twenty minutes. Then remove the newspaper and wipe off the soft droppings with a dry cloth.

In addition to bird droppings, dead insects are also destructive to your paint. They can also be removed with this method. If you regularly wax your car paint, the paint is less likely to be affected by bird droppings, resin and dead insects, but that does not mean that you should not remove these culprits as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage.
