United States: Pastor preaching with snake escape death after snake bites (video)
Pastor Cody Coots of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus’ Name Church in Middlesboro, Kentucky, was rushed to hospital after being bitten by a snake.
According to Dailymail, Cody Coots is a controversial pastor, who like his late father, uses venomous snakes during preaching to demonstrate his faith.
His father, Jamie Coots, died in 2014 at the age of 42 after being bitten by a snake in similar circumstances.
The church is inspired by the biblical verse Mark 16:18: “They will become serpents, if they drink some deadly beverages, they will not hurt them.”
The manipulation of snakes is a ritual practice observed in American Pentecostal churches more than a hundred years ago.
After the death of Jamie Coots, his son succeeded him as senior pastor.
He was only 23 years old. Tammy, Cody’s wife, respects her husband’s beliefs, but she refuses to be part of her church.
