137 years old birthday, Nigerian Sarah would be the oldest woman in the world!

If she is not yet officially recognized as the oldest woman on planet Earth, Sarah Nwakohwu Wuche, born in 1883 in Nigeria, could soon enter the Guinness Book of Records. She is now 137 years old, 15 years older than Jeanne Calment (122). The Frenchwoman previously held the record for longevity among women.

Since July 22, 2018, the date of Chiyo Miyako’s death, the dean of humanity is the Japanese Kane Tanaka, born on January 2, 1903, and aged 117 years. The proven longevity record for women is currently held by Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who lived until the age of 122.

On the other hand, a new discovery on the African continent, the cradle of humanity, could completely upset this record of Jeanne Calment’s longevity. Indeed, Sarah Nwakohwu Wuche, born in 1883 in Nigeria and who lives in Obio Akpor LGA of Rivers State, would be 137 years old today.
