The man who saved Hitler

When they arrived in Sarajevo, Alfred decided that the distinguished guests were not worthy of military honors and withdrew a detachment of 40 thousand soldiers from the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a result, when the Archduke was attacked, there was no one to prevent the murder and the subsequent pogroms in the city. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was the starting point for the outbreak of the First World War, which killed millions of people.

Marie Curie

In 1898, Marie Curie, Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel discovered radioactivity, as well as the radioactive elements radium and polonium. This allowed later to invent both the peaceful use of the atom and the military. The latter affected at least 150 thousand people who were burned to death in the atomic fire of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

In addition, for some time, the radioactive elements discovered by Curie were used in dishes and decorations due to fluorescence – a glow in the dark. This also became the reason for the exposure of people and their death from radiation sickness.

In 1847, Philip Morris, a London entrepreneur, opened a shop selling tobacco and cigarettes. Later, Philip Morris & Co. was founded, and at the beginning of the 20th century, it was bought by a company from the United States.

The company expanded rapidly and today is present in 180 countries, selling products under various brands.

In those days, when Philip Morris traded tobacco, this product was not considered dangerous; on the contrary, its medicinal properties were even described. Today, there is an active fight against smoking, which causes cancer and other diseases. Unaware of this, Philip Morris caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

The man who decided to use lead for dishes and water pipes

Even in ancient Rome, there was a water supply system, and it was made of lead. In those days, no one knew that this heavy metal was very toxic and carcinogenic. This metal tends to accumulate in the body, causing poisoning, which leads to the destruction of the skeleton, liver, and kidneys.

Since many people in the past used lead utensils and drank from sources that delivered water through lead pipes, this led to massive poisoning and death.
