Guinea: another week of strike and demonstrations
Guinean President Alpha Condé, confronted since mid-February by a series of opposition demonstrations and strikes by teachers who paralyze the education system, is likely to continue to another week at risk from Monday.
This week may be very long for the Guinean authorities confronted since mid-February to all kinds of strikes, protests and claims.
Teachers who decided to continue their strike despite the promises made by the government, and the opposition that announces a series of demonstrations all week, starting with a day dead city on Monday in Conakry and the surrounding area, are not likely to bring calm and serenity to the country.
On Friday, the government’s mediators put negotiations on the negotiating table with the trade unionists of the education proposals to bring back confidence between protagonists.
“Saboteurs”
But that’s without counting “saboteurs”, as some teachers say.
For them, people lurking in the shadows do not wish the success of the mediation led by the mediator of the Republic Said Fofana, and especially that he is helped by the Minister Secretary-General to the Presidency Tibou Kamara and the Minister of State, National Unity and Citizenship, Gassama Diaby.
On Saturday, March 10, when shop stewards were reporting on the government’s proposal to their constituents, a group of women broke in and demanded that teachers return to school.
Angered by the incident, the trade unionists interrupted their meeting and announced the wake of the continuation of the strike launched on February 12th.
